Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab Berbasis Geopolitik: Perspektif Soft Power dan Kesadaran Global
Abstract
This study aims to analyse the role of the Arabic language as an instrument of soft power, the integration of geopolitical perspectives into Arabic language learning in Indonesia, and its implications for students' global awareness. This study used a qualitative approach based on library research, integrating Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) for data reduction and categorisation and Fairclough's three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), comprising text, discursive practice, and social practice, as the critical interpretive framework. The findings reveal that Arabic functions not only as a medium of communication and a religious language, but also as a strategic instrument for transmitting Islamic values, cultural diplomacy, and international relations. The integration of geopolitical perspectives can be implemented through curriculum reconstruction, CLIL- and CDA-based pedagogical approaches, illustrated through critical analysis of lexical choices such as نازح versus لاجئ in Arabic media coverage and the use of authentic digital media as a critical discourse laboratory. This approach can support the development of geopolitical awareness, strengthen critical geopolitical literacy, and improve students' readiness to participate in transnational spaces. The study highlights the need to reposition Arabic language learning from a linguistic-religious paradigm toward a more contextual and geopolitically critical approach.
