Implementation of the Principal's Strategy in Forming Students' Good Character at MTs Darul Istiqamah Timbuseng, Gowa Regency

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategic planning implemented by the head of the madrasah, analyze the implementation of these strategies, and examine their effectiveness in shaping students' akhlakul karimah (noble character) at MTs Darul Istiqamah Timbuseng, Gowa Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach and was conducted at MTs Darul Istiqamah Timbuseng. The data sources consisted of the head of the madrasah, teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instruments included observation and interview guidelines. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was ensured through data triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the strategic planning carried out by the head of the madrasah in fostering students' noble character was very good. The planning process was conducted through meetings and involved all teachers in designing character-building programs. However, the implementation of strategies related to honesty, discipline, and responsibility had not been fully optimal, as several programs were not implemented in accordance with the initial plans. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the strategies can be categorized as fairly good, as continuous evaluations were conducted by the head of the madrasah and teachers to assess the extent to which akhlakul karimah values were implemented by students both inside and outside the classroom.
