Al Qalam: Jurnal Ilmiah Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakatan is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing. The journal recognizes authorship as an acknowledgment of significant intellectual contributions to research and scholarly work. To ensure fair and responsible authorship practices, the journal adopts the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). All individuals listed as authors must demonstrate meaningful involvement in the research process and accept responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the published work.
Authorship Requirements
To qualify for authorship, each contributor must fulfill all four criteria established by the ICMJE:
-
Substantial Intellectual Contribution: Making significant contributions to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
-
Manuscript Preparation and Critical Review: Participating in drafting the manuscript or critically reviewing its intellectual content to ensure academic quality and scholarly relevance.
-
Final Approval: Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript before publication, ensuring that its content accurately represents the research findings and conclusions.
-
Accountability and Research Integrity: Accepting responsibility for all aspects of the work and ensuring that any questions concerning the accuracy, validity, or integrity of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All individuals who meet these four criteria must be identified as authors, while individuals who do not fulfill all requirements should be recognized in the acknowledgment section rather than included in the authorship list. Contributions limited to financial support, general supervision, administrative assistance, technical editing, or proofreading do not independently justify authorship.
Author Responsibilities and Contributions
All authors are expected to agree on the order of authorship before manuscript submission and disclose their respective contributions accurately. The corresponding author is responsible for managing communication with the editorial office, coordinating manuscript revisions, and ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript. Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be accompanied by a clear justification and written agreement from all affected authors, subject to editorial review and approval.
The journal strictly discourages unethical authorship practices, including guest authorship, gift authorship, and ghost authorship. Any suspected authorship misconduct or dispute will be addressed in accordance with recognized publication ethics principles and relevant guidelines issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Through the implementation of these criteria, Al Qalam: Jurnal Ilmiah Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakatan seeks to promote responsible research collaboration, equitable recognition of scholarly contributions, and transparency in academic publishing.
