Al Qalam: Jurnal Ilmiah Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakatan welcomes high-quality scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Islamic studies and their relationship with contemporary social issues. The journal encourages interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches covering various fields, including Qur'anic and Hadith studies, Islamic philosophy, education, sociology, local wisdom, politics, economics, multiculturalism, and other relevant areas of religious and social sciences.
To accommodate diverse scholarly contributions, the journal accepts three main types of manuscripts: Original Research Articles, Literature Reviews, and Case Studies. All submissions must demonstrate academic originality, methodological rigor, theoretical or practical relevance, and compliance with the journal's editorial policies and publication ethics standards.
1. Original Research Article
Original Research Articles present new findings derived from systematic and independent research. These manuscripts should address clearly formulated research questions, employ appropriate research methodologies, and provide meaningful contributions to the development of knowledge in Islamic studies and related social sciences.
The journal welcomes original research employing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches, including empirical investigations, field research, and interdisciplinary studies. Manuscripts should generally include an introduction, research methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. Research findings must be supported by reliable evidence, critical analysis, and relevant scholarly references.
2. Literature Review
Literature Reviews provide comprehensive and critical examinations of existing scholarly publications related to specific research topics. These manuscripts are expected to synthesize relevant theories, concepts, empirical findings, and academic debates to identify research gaps, emerging perspectives, and opportunities for further investigation.
The journal accepts various literature review approaches, including systematic literature reviews, narrative reviews, integrative reviews, and other appropriately structured scholarly reviews. Authors should clearly describe their literature selection procedures, analytical approaches, and the significance of their findings. Literature Reviews must go beyond descriptive summaries by offering critical evaluation, conceptual synthesis, and meaningful contributions to academic discourse.
3. Case Study
Case Studies present detailed and systematic investigations of particular phenomena, institutions, communities, educational practices, policies, or social experiences relevant to Islamic studies and religious or social life. These manuscripts aim to provide an in-depth understanding of specific contexts while generating insights that may contribute to broader theoretical discussions or practical applications.
Case Study manuscripts should clearly explain the research context, case selection, data collection procedures, analytical methods, and relevant findings. Authors are encouraged to demonstrate how the examined case contributes to understanding important issues within Islamic education, religious practices, social transformation, cultural traditions, or other fields covered by the journal.
General Submission Requirements
Regardless of manuscript type, all submissions must be original, academically sound, and consistent with the journal's aims and scope. Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to provide accurate citations, acknowledge relevant sources, and comply with applicable research ethics and academic integrity standards.
Manuscripts may be submitted in English and must follow the journal's author guidelines and manuscript preparation requirements. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for the journal. Manuscripts meeting the journal's requirements will proceed to the peer-review process.
Through the publication of these manuscript types, Al Qalam: Jurnal Ilmiah Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakatan aims to facilitate scholarly dialogue, promote methodological diversity, and disseminate valuable research findings that advance understanding of Islamic thought, religious practices, and contemporary social developments.
