English Teachers’ Belief Towards Utilization of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (Mall) in MA Nurul Hikmah Banjarbaru
Abstract
The utilization of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is believed to enhance students’ understanding of the teaching-learning process. The participants were two English teachers in MA Nurul Hikmah Banjar Baru. The instruments of this study were interviews, observations and documents. This study used a case-study design. To analyze the data, this study used the qualitative method developed by Miles and Huberman (2004). The findings of this study revealed that the English teachers' beliefs about the use of MALL in the classroom are really helpful and supportive of students' learning processes. Even in the implementation, there are positive and negative impacts on the learning process. Through the application of MALL makes the learning atmosphere more interesting and enjoyable. However, still necessitates adherence to the school's MA Nurul Hikmah Banjar Baru regulations. In addition, the challenge faced by the English teacher with the use of MALL in the classroom is the need for awareness among the teacher and students about the concept of MALL. In order for students not to misuse the functions of MALL, the teacher must supervise their use. However, for the use of MALL in the learning process in schools, the role of the teacher becomes very important.
